The Tribune News of December 13, 1923 featured a mention of the Allatoona School. The students had recently celebrated “Bird and Arbor Day” and on the occasion had planted a tree to honor Mrs. W.H. McMichen. Caroline Lankford McMichen and her husband had donated the plot of land on which the schoolhouse was then located. The McMichens had moved to the area from Paulding County in 1894 and had stayed in the Allatoona area until moving to Cartersville around 1919. Mrs. McMichen died on November 16, 1923.
